Taken from a Middle Eastern battlefield nearly a century ago during the British army’s struggle against Ottoman forces in WWI, a unique piece of military history is due to go under the hammer during a museum sale on Saturday 28th March.
Some interesting items of taxidermy look set to cause a stir amongst collectors when they go under the hammer later this month as part of an auction of former exhibits of the Stratford Armouries Museum. West Midlands’ auctioneers, Cuttlestones, has been commissioned to sell the collection based on the continued success of its quarterly Specialist Collectors’ sales, which includes extensive militaria and taxidermy sections.
Military buffs and those with an appreciation of the art of chivalric combat will be keen to hear that several suits of armour – including two fine equestrian examples – hailing from a single, private collection will be coming up for auction at a museum sale on Saturday, 28th March.
An impressive group of decorative bronzes will go under the hammer at the Stratford Armouries Auction on Saturday 28th March. The works, which depict figures of historical and military significance such as Leonardo Da Vinci, a Bedouin Prince on horseback, and a huntsman with hounds amongst others, would lend an air of magnificence to any country home or club, and are sure to be of interest to potential collectors of militaria or country sports.
