Sale report: Wolverhampton Antiques & Interiors – Wed 12th May

Posted on

A diverse catalogue of some 611 lots resulted in a truly mixed bag of highlights at Wolverhampton Auction Rooms’ latest Antiques & Interiors sale. 86% of the lots that went under the hammer sold; with successful bidders joining via live online bidding, commission bids on the cuttlestones.co.uk website or email and via the telephone.

The top seller of the day was a 2007 Vauxhall Corsa, which saw the hammer fall at £1,000. Lots with a musical connection also did well – a Yamaha electric piano sold for £650; a collection of LP records and singles dating from the 60s, 70s and 80s went for £160 and a Tandberg Thorens Hi Fi achieved £260. It seems ‘chintzy’ chinaware is still popular, with six trays of Royal Doulton ‘Countess’ tea and dinnerware selling for £350 and a tray of unmarked botanical plates going for £250.

More ‘traditional’ antiques also performed well – including a longcase clock marked Thomas Birchill, Nantwich, which went for £420 and an antique stone bird bath that achieved £290. Artwork, gold coins and jewellery lots have also made it into our pick of the lots from across the catalogue:
