Sale report: Penkridge Antiques & Interiors – Wed 7th April 2021

Posted on

Another busy antiques & interiors sale last week, with furniture of varying styles performing particularly well – perhaps a nod to people investing in statement pieces to upgrade their interiors as trips overseas look to be on hold?

Elsewhere records continued to be popular; achieving decent prices despite bidders being unable to look through collections in person, with Lot 210 – a box of LPs including Jethro Tull, Dire Straits, David Bowie & others selling for £35 and Lot 211, a box of records including Pink Floyd, ELO and Queen among others seeing the hammer fall at £95.

The enduring appeal of Dinky Toys seems as strong as ever, with Lot 168 – a collection of diecast vintage Dinky toy cars, including a Golden Shred example, selling for £200 and Lot 171, a collection of mostly boxed vintage diecast Dinky toys – this time including a lorry-mounted cement mixer – selling for £210. ‘Chintzy’ china again brought in the bids – the star of the show this time Lot 232, four trays of Royal Albert Old Country Roses tea and coffee pots, cake stand, telephone and other items which went for £750.

Militaria collectors were also out in force, with Lot 442 – a Bowie style knife in military canvas sheath selling for £450 and Lot 446 – Two WWI medals awarded to 112870 PTE. A.E. TAYLOR TANK CORPS along with two brass 1914 Christmas tins going for £140.
