Rare bottle of Mounié Edward VII Cognac for auction on Friday, 1st April

A particularly rare bottle of Mounié Edward VII Cognac,
set for auction at Cuttlestones’ Friday,
1st April specialist collectors’ sale.

Collectors of fine and rare cognacs will be interested to hear that a particularly rare bottle of Mounié Edward VII Cognac will be auctioned during the wines and spirits section of a specialist collectors’ sale on Friday, 1st April at Cuttlestones auctioneers in Staffordshire.

Denis Mounié is a very old Cognac house that was swallowed up by Hine in the 1930s; its produce is highly collectable with some US collectors specialising solely in this house. Carrying an estimate of between £80 – £120, this is just one lot in a very interesting section of wines, spirits and ales as Cuttlestones’ wine expert, Andrew Wilson of Tittensor’s Old School Wines, explains:

Following our inaugural wine, spirits and ales auction in December 2010, which was a resounding success, we’ve had such strong interest that we’ve decided to add a dedicated section to our regular specialist collectors’ sales. While the Denis Mounié Edward VII Cognac looks set to be a star performer, due to its rarity, there are plenty more interesting lots in the section; including a range of interesting wines dating from the ‘70s and ‘80s and a collection of Bass Royal Ales. Once again, we anticipate strong international interest courtesy of our live online bidding facility.”

Other noteworthy lots include two bottles of CHATEAU d’Yquem 1965 in super condition (est. £300-£500 per bottle), 3 rather interesting bottles of Pauillac de Latour 1973 (est. £30-£50 each), a number of different Bass Commemorative Ales in varying condition and a collection of Joules Brewery memorabilia.

The full catalogue, including the Wines, Spirits and Ales section of Cuttlestones’ Friday, 1st April specialist collector’s sale will be available to view online from Friday, 25th March – visit where you’ll also find details of how to bid in person, by commission, telephone or online.
