Thursday, 3rd December could offer the chance to find the perfect Christmas gift for the loved one who ‘has everything’ – with a stunning selection of jewellery and timepieces set to go under the hammer as part of Staffordshire auction house Cuttlestones’ Winter Antique Sale.
The star of the show has to be an 18 carat gold Omega Constellation automatic wristwatch which, officially styled as a Gent’s watch, would equally suit a lady who likes a more substantial timepiece and is estimated at £3,000 - £5,000.
For those with an eye for something more traditional, two military watches are also set to go under the hammer. They include an H.Golay & Son Ltd (London) open-faced manual wind naval watch, which was used by the Fleet Air Arm Museum’s Fairey Swordfish aircraft which, during WWII took part in many significant events - from the decimation of the Italian fleet at Taranto in 1940 to the crippling of the Bismarck in 1941. Mounted on the dashboard of the biplane torpedo bomber, the watch was used for navigation purposes; allowing the aircraft position to be calculated using the radio signal from 'Beacon North'. This slice of military history is set to sell for around £200 - £400. A Rolex military black dial open faced wind pocket watch, meanwhile, carries an estimate of £250 - £350.
Those on the lookout for a glamorous gift to pop under the tree won’t be disappointed – the jewellery section includes some fabulous lots, including a Cartier 18ct white gold charm bracelet complete with three charms - a miniature diamond set version if the iconic 'screw' bangle; a diamond set Cartier logo within a heart; and a ‘C de Cartier’ logo charm. It is expected to achieve £1,000 - £2,000.
When it comes to rings, you’ll be spoilt for choice – highlights include an ornate platinum ruby & diamond dress ring estimated at £1,200 - £1,500; a while gold emerald & diamond ring set with an estimated 1.20 carats of emeralds and twenty brilliant cut diamonds, Est £800 - £1,200; and a sapphire & diamond ring set with ten brilliant cut diamonds and five sapphires, which could fetch £600 - £1,000.
The lots will sell during Cuttlestones’ Winter Antiques auction on Thursday, 3rd December which will take place online as part of COVID safety measures. The full, illustrated catalogue will be published at www.cuttlestones.co.uk from Friday, 27th November registrations for live, online bidding available via www.the-saleroom.com or www.easyliveauction.com.
